Helensburgh Golf Club’s captain and pro challenge competition was held on Sunday.

This was a new event held by current captain, Murray Waddell.

In a four ball, better ball format, the aim was to beat the score posted by club professional Fraser Hall and the captain. In testing conditions six pairs beat Murray and Fraser’s tally of 39 points.

The six pairs were entered into a draw for a £50 voucher. Winners were Russell and Glen Graves.

The six winning cards were:

First Sweep: Andrew Willoughby and Craig Bonthrone – 49 pts

Second Sweep: Ben and Gemma Canham – 44 pts

Third Sweep: Wyllie Robertson and Gordon English – 43 pts

In Saturday’s two-man Scramble, 45 pairs took part, and the results were:

1st: Jamie Francis and John Ford nett 60.7

2nd: Wyllie Robertson and Ron McKay nett 61.7

3rd: Douglas Willoughby and Ryan Cleland nett 62.

On April 22 it was the first round of the Anderson Cup:
