Rhu Amateurs held their annual sportsman’s dinner at the Rosslea Hotel on Friday night.

This year’s dinner was a special one as it marked the 50th anniversary of the club winning the Scottish Amateur Cup.

In attendance were main speaker, former Rangers and Scotland star Derek Parlane, who hails from Rhu, second speaker and comedy club regular Steven Halkett and three of Rhu’s Scottish Cup winning team from 1967, captain Finlay Colquhoun, Jim Shields and Paul Robertson.

With both speakers in top form the large crowd were entertained throughout the night.

There were a number of awards on the night after a long hard season.

Players’ Player of the Year was goalkeeper Martin Grindlay. Manager’s Player of the Year was also Martin Grindlay.

Clubman of the Year was assistant manager Maurice George. There was also a special presentation to the Scottish Cup winners who were presented with a silver salver to commemorate their feat.
