Helensburgh Amateur Swimming Club’s younger swimmers made a splash in Round 3 of the Clyde Coast mini league at The Portal in Irvine.

The mini league, for swimmers ages 8-11, is attended by up to 20 clubs from across the west of Scotland as far south as Dumfries.

Three rounds of matches take place from March to May annually.

The swimmers compete as a club the aim being to score enough points to reach the final swim-off in June and a chance to win the coveted Rosebowl.

All of the swimmers gave it their all and some fantastic new and personal best times were achieved.

The team captains set an excellent example with the boys' team captain, Mikey Miller, swimming an amazing 100m freestyle to win.

The girls' team captain, Caitriona Stewart, pulled out all the stops to come from half a length behind in the relay to secure a win for the team.

This was Caitriona’s last mini league swim as she has reached the upper age limit.

Special mention also goes to Rachael Stewart who swam her best breaststroke ever and followed it up with a fantastic freestyle.

Michael Payne, making his debut, swam a strong freestyle and Thomas Forsyth showed significant improvement delivering fantastic results in all of his events.

Zak and Bradley Trail, Liam Mckenzie, Edward Peace, Ethan Parsons Pippa Swigciski, Alice Cummings and Millie Armstrong Sheen all swam well on the day.

For some it was their last mini league event, having reached the upper age limit, and they ended the series in style.
