FORMER Scotland national team manager Craig Brown is among the guest speakers at a fund-raising 'sportsman's dinner' in Helensburgh this weekend.
Organised by Helensburgh Football Club, the event, on Saturday, October 7, will also feature local minister, the Reverend Ian Miller, as compere and top Scottish comedian Joe Camay.
As well as being the last man to take the Scottish national team to the finals of a major tournament – the 1998 World Cup in France – Brown, who managed Scotland from 1993 to 2001, also had spells in club management with Clyde, Preston North End, Motherwell and Aberdeen.
He additionally coached the Scotland under-16 team which reached the finals of the FIFA under-16 world championships in 1989.
Tickets for the event, which takes place at St Joseph's Church Hall and begins at 7pm, are available from Kenny Russell (07865 074656) or Gordon Brodie (077111 20323).
