Rhu Amateurs came from behind three times to maintain their recent winning run on Saturday.

Goals by Brandon Pitt, Graeme McCallum, Adam McCulloch and Brian Mullholland gave the local side a 4-3 Caledonian League win away to Symington Tinto.

The visitors had several players missing, and on a poor surface with a strong wind, it was not an easy afternoon.

Within two minutes Rhu were caught cold when a long ball found Symington’s striker and his shot found the net off the post.

Rhu equalized within ten minutes and it had a bit of luck to it, when a fine run and cross by youngster Brandon Pitt came off the back post and in to the net.

But it was a scrappy game and Symington took the lead again after poor defending by Rhu.

The away side almost drew level when a Graeme McCallum free kick came back off the post, but they did get on level terms a short time later when a corner from the left was headed down by Adam McCulloch and McCallum bravely headed home to make it 2-2 at half-time.

Rhu were looking for an improvement in the second half but it was Symington who took the lead for a third time as the visitors failed to clear their lines.

The game was crying out for a bit of class and it came on the hour mark when McCulloch collected Scott Leishman’s pass and it found the top corner from 25 yards.

Rhu were sensing a win now as they put their hosts under pressure - and the winner arrived with 10 minutes remaining.

McCallum’s free kick from the left found Brian Mullholland who hit the bar and was first to react and he fired the ball in to the roof of the net to put Rhu ahead for the first time.

Symington made a late effort to salvage a draw, but Rhu managed to see the game out to collect the points.
