HELENSBURGH’S Monty Jamieson was among the medal winners at the National Cadet Swimming Competition in Aldershot on Saturday.

The Scottish team, comprising of 16 cadets and five adult volunteers from all over Scotland made the journey to compete against the best cadet swimmers from across Britain.

The team excelled in the competition and came away with an impressive medal haul of six gold, 10 silver and six bronze medals. The juniors swatted aside fierce competition to earn trophies for both the Junior Boys and the Junior Girls categories.

The seniors placed third in both the Senior Boys and Senior Girls categories.

Those results were enough to place Scotland second overall.

Jamieson made his mark and earned three medals with some eye-catching swims.

He won gold in the relay, silver in backstroke and bronze in freestyle.

“What an amazing achievement and not only have they won all these medals, they also have achieved their National Colours for competing for Scotland”
