HELENSBURGH Golf Club recently held its annual prizegiving ceremony, with over 100 members and guests in attendance.

The Golf Club held the event on November 24, as it honoured the achievements of its golfers over the course of the season.

The club captain’s wife Alyson Waddell and lady’s captain Anita McLaren presented the awards on the night.

Peter Haggarty won the club championship for an incredible tenth time, and again took home the Hood Trophy.

During his acceptance speech, Peter praised the play of his opponent, runner-up Terry Smith and offered his thanks and congratulations to HGC Course Manager, Robert Bacon and his team for their hard work in what was a difficult year to present the course as well as they had.

The Peel Trophy, which is the championship for handicaps 10-18, was won by Graham Crowhurst and the 1963 trophy for 19-28 handicaps was claimed by Stewart Fraser.

18-year-old Sarah Kemp became ladies champion for the first time having defeated three-time winner Gemma Canham in the final.

Sarah’s excellent golf in the final suggests her win may well be the first of many.

Ben Armstrong defeated Joe Barton to claim his first junior championship and took home the coveted plate.

The club expects both players to continue the fine play and improvement they have shown this season in the coming years.
