Ardencaple FC’s Ian ‘Hodgie’ Halliday was presented a very special award recently for his service to the club.

Club president Walter Smith thanked Halliday, a lifelong Hearts fan, for his many years of organising race nights and raising funds for the club, as well as coaching.

He was presented with a Hearts jersey signed by the entire Jam Tarts squad who ended Celtic’s domestic dominance recently, beating the Hoops 4-0 to end the champions’ 69-match unbeaten run in Scottish league and cup competition.

Humbles Cafe, based in Colquhoun Square, have also come on board with Ardencaple, by sponsoring the under-14 side's new strips.

Owners Graeme and Nicole Smith have generously come on board to help out the youngsters.

The club’s committee have also announced several events for their upcoming 50th anniversairy year.

First up is a tribute night at the Commodore Hotel on March 3, with Ed Sheeran and Paolo Nutini tribute acts performing.

On April 14 will be the Sportsman’s Dinner, and on May 6 will be the Ladies’ Lunch.
