Helensburgh Golf Club has elected two experienced captains to lead the club in its 125th year.

Ian Shields and Bobbie Latham were elected as the club captain and captain of the ladies'section respectively at the club’s annual general meeting last Thursday, with just under 100 of the club’s members in attendance.

Ian and Bobbie previously filled the roles in 2011, with Ian continuing as captain in 2012.

Helensburgh Golf Club’s general manager, Kevin McAleer, said: “We are delighted that Ian and Bobbie have been elected.

“It seems very fitting that returning captains will be leading the club in such a significant year in our history.

“An extensive programme of events has been agreed by the 125th anniversary committee and these will be promoted to the membership shortly.”

As part of the club’s celebrations and in an effort to increase access to golf in the local community Helensburgh Golf Club is doing it’s part.

They will be offering free junior memberships to 12 young people under the age of 18 and a free Social membership to the young person’s parent, family member or guardian.
