CLYDE Thistle FC has launched an exciting partnership with The Journey in Helensburgh – and the club’s 10-11 age group enjoyed their first session with coach Steve Losh on Tuesday night.

Losh, a military fitness instructor with more than 30 years of experience in the fitness industry, put the boys from the Rhu-based club through their paces at The Journey’s PT Centre on West Clyde Street.

He will continue to work with them twice a week, with each session providing a fun environment for the Thistle squad to work on their fitness levels while also learning about how to lead healthier lives.

Each player will receive tailored classes designed around their specific fitness programmes and this, coupled with The Journey’s nutritional planning, will allow experienced personal trainers to create a comprehensive and clear path for the club’s talented young footballers.

Losh said: “It gives me great pleasure to be working with the next generation of local footballers and helping the boys become stronger and leaner.

“It’s vital in this day and age that we work hard to create robust athletes that can be the best of the best and my team of coaches includes a county long distance runner, a professional footballer and an ex CPO physical training instructor that has played at the highest level in tennis.”

Clyde Thistle chairman Sean Stewart added: “This is a really exciting venture for all our young players.

“We have only been in existence for 30 months and we have doubled in size, but we continually strive for new ways to take our players out of their comfort zone and challenge them, so we welcome the opportunity to work with Steve Losh and his team at The Journey as we look to improve our players’ fitness levels and their general health and well-being for the future.”

The Journey, which is part of SOS Fitness, aims to encourage and motivate their clients of all ages towards their fitness goals through holistic and fun memberships.
