DOUGLAS Willoughby landed a hole-in-one at the par-three third hole in the June round of the Ormond Medal at Helensburgh Golf Club.

But his ace was only enough to earn him a share of third in the division one class, alongside Stuart Buchanan on net scores of 66; Keith Baird won the class on 63, with Simon Barass second two shots adrift.

John Waddell’s net 63 won division two, ahead of Stuart Latimer on 65 and Ray Ford and Alan Rankin on 67, while Terry Smith senior’s 67 took the division three prize, four clear of David Graham, with Bill McKeirnan and John Sharp sharing third on 74.

Brett Loudfoot’s net 63 in division one was the best score of the day in the June round of the Anderson Cup on Saturday, ahead of Filippo James Madonia on 65 and Alan Scott’s 67.

Robert Campbell’s net 66 won division two, one ahead of Danny Lafferty, with Murray Waddell and Roy Nesbitt sharing third on 69.

Craig Ross Smith took the division three prize, also on a net 66, with Harry Fazal on 68 and Scott Kennedy and Jonathan Sturgeon on 70.

Shey Donald won the first round of the BMW Competition with 42 stableford points, two clear of Gordon McGregor, with a three way tie for third. Douglas Willoughby was this week’s Eclectic winner on 24 points, though Stuart Buchanan and Scott Kennedy top the leaderboard with 33.

In the ladies’ section the Harper Kennedy team enjoyed wins over Balmore and Hilton Park. The Allander League team have beaten Dumbarton and Cardross and drawn with Hilton Park, while the Anderson League team have beaten Lenzie, Cawder and Balmore and lost to Douglas Park.
