THE youth section of Helensburgh Rugby Club recently held their end-of-season awards ceremony.
Youth rugby is currently thriving at the club with more than 120 children from the P1 to P7 age groups training and playing fixtures on a weekly basis.

All coaches would agree that the majority of players have made improvements throughout the year and in many cases it proved difficult to select a ‘Most Improved’ and ‘Player of the Year’.
To choose players for these awards, coaches took into consideration attitude, effort, attendance at training, behavior as well as improvements to the player’s game and consistency of play during the season.

The Gareth Hoskins Shield was fittingly awarded to the most deserving P7 of the year, Tom McVeigh, who was chosen as the player who epitomises hard work, being a team player, and has shown great commitment and attitude.

The player of the season titles were awarded to Tom Barrie (P7), Shaun Callan (P6), Charlie Ward (P5) and Cooper Moffat (P4).
The awards for most improved player of the season went to Harry Kemp (P7), Ruairidh Hall (P6), William Swain (P5) and Seoras Nelson (P4).
All the P1-3 players received their end of season medals.
After the ceremony a  was enjoyed in the sunshine at Ardencaple.

Helensburgh Youth Rugby would like to thank all coaches, volunteers and parents/ families for their support. Thanks also to Babcock for ongoing support as the main mini rugby sponsor.
