Replacing the annual half marathon this year, the new event takes place on Sunday, August 10 and will take the form of a gently undulating 7-mile road race around the town which will provide the perfect test for runners of all abilities.

Helensburgh AAC are also looking to help runners who would fancy the challenge to get fit for the day with a special summer mebership. The club, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, is offering a 10-week summer membership for £20, which will provide the training sessions you need to improve your running, your overall fitness and have you in peak condition for August.

There will be a training group to suit absolutely every ability level, from jogger/beginner right through to the more experienced runner who is looking to sharpen up their speed.

The first training session of the 10-week block takes place on the evening of Tuesday, June 3. All sessions will start and finish at the Helensburgh AAC clubhouse, in the grounds of the old Hermitage Academy in the Craigendoran area of the town.

Come the end of the training block, if you’d like to stay on as an HAAC member, there will be a discounted rate on offer for the rest of our membership year.

HAAC is friendly, inclusive club with expertise in helping people improve their running and which can provide a range of exciting opportunities.

So come along, find out what we have to offer and get fit for summer.
