For many years Lomond has entered a team into the youth race of the Scottish Islands Peaks Race, but this was to prove to be the toughest yet.
The race includes about 120 miles of sailing from Oban to Troon and 55 miles of running in the mountains of Mull, Jura and Arran.
Rough seas combined with tides and winds fighting each other, meant that during the passage from Jura to the Mull of Kintyre, the runners were struck down with severe sea sickness.
This made the run on Arran four and a half hours of dehydrated torture for the Lomond runners and the youth race developed into a very close competition between Lomond and Fettes College, with both teams battling for the lead on the run from Lamlash to Goat Fell and back.
After almost 48 hours of running, sailing and sea sickness, Lomond emerged winners by 15 minutes in the youth race.
The school also finished an impressive 6th overall out of 44 boats with only 19 boats completing the course.
The Lomond hillrunners were Morgan Serpell, Oliver Monteith, Ben Cartwright, Oscar Andrews and Calum Wilson, with Craig Dunlop, Matthew Underwood and Colin Butler as the adult runners.
The sailors on ‘Pippa’ were David Wilson, Calum Wilson and Fraser Gray (owner of Pippa).
