The day started with the 60m sprint heats, with a host of competive primary seven boys and girls trying to reach the finals.

In the girls final, Amy Court from Cardross won the race, Sinead Owen (Arrochar) finished in second place and Ella Pritchard (Rosneath) was third.

In the boys 60m race, Ewan Robb (Rhu) won the gold medal, Ryan Cosgrove Clark(Rhu) took the silver and Jack McLean (Hermitage) was presented with the bronze medal.

The 600m race was run around three laps of the track and it was Charlie Bridges (Colgrain) who took the gold medal for the girls, Rachael McKillop (Hermitage) earned the silver medal and Tara Jackson(Arrochar) took the bronze medal.

In the boys race, Jamie Johnston(Rhu) stormed home in a time of one minute, 55 seconds to take the gold medal. Jamie Thompson (Rhu) finished second for the silver followed by Lewis Smith (Kilcreggan) in a very close third to take the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, in the sports hall, the standing long jump was won by Colgrain’s Rachael McAuley, second was Isobel Roberts (Lomond) and third was Holly MacPhail (Colgrain). In the boys standing jump competition, Tom Richardson (Rhu) jumped 1.92m to take gold, Jamie Thompson (Rhu) jumped 1.84m for silver and Lewis Smith (Kilcreggan) took the bronze with a jump of 1.83m.

The shot putt took place on the grass for the primary seven pupils. In the girls’ competition, Abbie Murray (Colgrain) won the gold medal with a throw of 7.27m, Alexandra MacMillan (Cardross) won the silver and Anna Sherry (St Joseph’s) took the bronze. The winning throw for the boys was 7.64m and was thrown by Jamie Smith (Rhu), second place went to Daniel Dooley (Rhu) and third place Alex Calderwood (Rosneath).

The final event of the morning was the team relays round the 200m track with a straight final for all schools with the three fastest times being awarded the medals. In the girls competition, Rosneath finished third, Cardross claimed second and the winning school was Colgrain Primary with a time of one minute and five seconds. In the boys competition, Cardross came third, Hermitage finished second and Rhu won in a time of one minute and one second.
