LOMOND School pupil Emma Scott has been racing ahead of the chasing pack recently — picking up gold medals for the long jump and 100m sprint at national and regional competitions.

Emma won gold for her long jump at the Scottish Athletics West District Championships in May, gold for the long jump and 100m sprint at Dunbartonshire District Schools Championships.

More recently she was on the podium again at the Scottish Schools National Championships in Grangemouth on Friday where she won another gold for her long jump and set a new personal best distance of 5.06m.

Emma is now one of only two girls in Scotland to have jumped over five metres at under-15 age group this year.

Emma competes for Victoria Park City of Glasgow Athletics Club. She used to compete for Helensburgh Amateur Athletics Club in 2013 and was ranked number one in the UK for her long jump at under-13 age group but sustained a hip injury soon after, which kept her out of competition for a year receiving physiotherapy before staring to compete again in 2014.
