Lomond School pupil Angus Guy has recently been ranked as the top under-16 Scot in Modern Pentathlon.

Angus, who is currently in senior four, has been training with Scottish Schools Athletics since the October half term and was recently selected to compete in the under-16 Scottish Pentathlon team.

Last month, Angus travelled to Ireland to compete against the other home nations.

At the event, he achieved personal bests in the 800m, 200m and hurdles. Placing 11th out of 16 overall means that he is now the top under-16 Scottish boy in the sport.

Johanna Urquhart, Lomond School Principal, said: “This is incredibly good news for Angus, whose hard work training with Scottish Schools Athletics has been rewarded with these fantastic results.

"Angus is a talented athlete and sportsman who is determined to succeed in all of his many endeavours to the best of his ability. One of several elite athletes at Lomond School.

"Angus is a shining example to other young people of how both academic and sporting commitments can be balanced with hard work and determination.”
