HELENSBURGH discus star Angus McInroy had a disappointing finish to his Commonwealth Games experience.

The 24-year-old, who broke two Scottish records in the lead up to the Delhi Games, qualified for the final with a throw of 54.30 metres.

But when McInroy came up against some of the best discus competitors in the world he failed to produce his best in the final.

A distance of 49.98 metres was only good enough to finish in 11th place, out the 12 finalists.

Australian Benn Hardine picked up the gold medal with a mighty effort of 65.45 metres and home favourite Vikas Gowda got the silver, with a throw of 63.69 metres.

England’s Carl Myerscough won the bronze medal after a throw of 60.64.
