In its 28th year, the Polaroid Eyewear 10k series takes in four races — at Helensburgh, Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven — and is hugely popular amongst runners of all ages and abilities, from those tackling the distance for the first time through to experienced club runners.

The Helensburgh 10k gets the whole series going when runners will come under starters orders on the evening of Thursday, May 15 just outside Hermitage Academy in the Craigendoran area of the town.

The Clydebank 10k follows a week later on May 22, covering a flat route which takes in parts of the towpath on the canal, while the Dumbarton 10k is next on May 29, over a course which utilises part of the Glasgow to Loch Lomond cycle path.  The Vale of Leven race starts and finishes at Loch Lomond Shores in Balloch and completes the quartet on the morning of Sunday June 8.

Each race presents a different challenge but all offer the chance of clocking a quick time.

Given that Glasgow 2014 is also firmly on the horizon, the race organisers are delighted that 1970 Commonwealth gold medallist Lachie Stewart, who still holds the Scottish native record for the 10,000 metres, will be on hand to start the races and present the prizes.  For entry information, visit www.polaroid-10k.co.uk, you can enter as many races as you like, with entrants of all four races receiving four races for the price of three and the choice of either a commemorative technical t-shirt or a pair Polaroid sport sunglasses.
