Play got under way on Monday, April 21 and was run in two sections with each team playing each other over a series of six end games.
After the completion of the section games there were clear winners in both sections with Patricia McCallan, Roger Jones and Gordon Stephen MBE qualifying from the Red section having won all of there games. In the Blue section Liz Smith, Tony Bird and Robert Begg qualified losing only one of there section games.
In the final played on Thursday, April 24 the Robert Begg skipped triple started the final, played on Thursday, April 23, much the better, scoring a single, then two shots in the first two ends and after four ends led by four shots to one.
Then disaster struck as the Gordon Stephen skipped triple fought back, scoring four shots in the fifth end to give themselves a slender lead of five shots to four going into the last end - and they held on to secure victory, scoring a single shot to win the first trophy of the season by six shots to four.
