Burgh bowlers' awards

PRESIDENT Don Lilley welcomed the guests to Helensburgh BC for the annual presentation of prizes and dinner dance on Saturday.

In attendance were Honorary President and Provost Billy Petrie and his wife Jean, President Anna McCallum (Scottish Womens Bowling Association) and her husband James and Robert Phillips (Dumbartonshire Bowling Association) and wife Marilyn.

Before the presentation, special mention was given to HBC members who were successful in winning outside honours, particularly the Senior Fours team of Tom Adkin, Bryce McCallan, Ian Gilchrist and Laurence Friel who reached the quarter finals of the SBA National Championships at Northfield in July.

Another great achiever was club and senior champion Annette Christie who also won the GWBA championship and senior champion of champions, with many of her ties held on the same day.

Before the dancing began, Ladies captain Amelia McBride rounded off the evening with a vote of thanks.
