ARDENCAPLE Under-15s kicked off their league campaign with a resounding 5-0 win away to new boys Busby FC on Sunday.

Ardencaple went into the match full of confidence after last year’s successful league and cup double winning season with new signings Jamie Grant and Liam Kavanagh both starting the match.

Their opponents on the day, Busby FC, have only just joined the league this year after playing in the Glasgow league last year, so Ardencaple were venturing into the unknown.

Ardencaple started with their usual 4-2-3-1 formation and quickly took hold of the game, keeping possession and moving the ball quickly, they were able to open up the Busby defence and some clinical finishing saw them go in at half time leading the game 3-0.

They continued to dominate possession in the second half and despite a 15 minute spell where Busby looked as though they could find their way back into the tie, Ardencaple controlled the tempo throughout, adding two more goals in the second half.

A fine display for their first game of the league campaign which included a superb hat-trick from last year’s player of the year, Liam Robson, a double from Luke Mallett as well as an excellent defensive display saw them run out comfortable 5-0 winners.

Ardencaple’s next game is a midweek test against another new team to the league, Dumbarton Utd followed by a Scottish Cup first round tie on Sunday at home to Lenzie.
