Ardencaple FC got its annual series of Toyota Tournaments off to a flying start last weekend with a 2005 and 2006 tournament at Rhu Amateurs Ardenconnel Park.

Eight teams at 2005 age group participated on Sunday morning and another eight teams at 2006 age group involved in the afternoon.

Players and spectators alike were treated to a feast of football, and another feast inside the clubhouse with a BBQ serving burgers and hot-dogs in addition to a range of home-baking provided by Caple families.

Two teams each from Caple, Erskine YFC, Dumbarton Riverside and teams from Drumchapel and Kilbowie made up the 2005 tournament.

Both Erskine teams emerged from closely contested sections to contest the final and ensure victory for their club.

In the 2006 tournament Ardencaple contested a group that included Erskine YFC, Dumbarton Riverside and Dumbarton United, whilst Team Caple faced up to another Dumbarton Riverside select as well as Haldane and Clydebank. Ardencaple and Clydebank emerged as section winners and went on to produce a great final with Ardencaple running out 3-0 winners.

Gary Mulvaney, managing director of Helensburgh Toyota, presented medals to all participants and commented “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Ardencaple FC and together to promote our well established Toyota Tournament. It was great to host teams from Clydebank, Drumchapel, Dumbarton, Haldane and Erskine and for all the footballers and their families to have such an enjoyable day." with the rain staying away until just after the medal presentation. Excellent organisation from Craig, Euan and all the officials at Ardencaple.”
