PLAYERS, families and club coaches all gathered together at Hermitage Academy last Friday to enjoy Ardencaple FC’s annual Player of the Year presentation evening.
Caple’s younger teams, from age groups 2010-2005 inclusive, were out in force to reflect upon yet another highly successful and enjoyable season that involved four, five and seven-a-side teams participating in the 2016 summer season of the Dunbartonshire Development Football League, which ran from March to November.
Child entertainer Sam provided a fantastic mixture of songs, dances and games to keep all the players and their brothers and sisters well entertained in anticipation of the awards presentation.
First up were the individual prize-winners from Caple’s 7seven-a-side teams from the 2007, 2006 & and 2005 age-groups.
Next followed the presentation of DFDL medals to each and every player in each of the age groups, from Ardencaple FC’s 2010s right through to its 2005s.
Individual coaches had the opportunity to reflect upon key aspects of the 2016 season and also to pay tribute to the many helpers and parents who give up their time to help freely on a weekly basis.
The event also helped to raised a significant amount towards club funds by virtue of sales of soft drinks, crisps and sweets from the tuck-shop, as well as raffle tickets and a giant football card.
The main raffle prize of a remote controlled Subaru car was very kindly donated by Helensburgh Subaru and a couple of lucky winners also took away a Hampden tour and a football boot-bag kindly donated by Manchester United FC.
The 2005s now look forward to playing 11-a-side friendly matches in anticipation of starting their first competitive season in August, whilst the other age groups can’t wait to get started again with the 2017 season, commencing in March.
A couple of social dates to note for the Caple diary, both events taking place at the Commodore Hotel - a Race Night on Saturday, February 25, and an inaugural Casino Night on Saturday, April 15, during this year’s Easter Weekend.
Ardencaple FC operates two teams at 2006/7 age-groups.
