RHU Amateurs cruised past new Caledonian League Division 1A side Woodhall Thistle 4-1 away on Saturday.

After a poor first half Rhu dominated the second and ran out comfortable winners.

With frost on parts of the pitch both teams found it difficult early on to get any decent passing going.

It was to be the pattern of the first half with plenty of endeavour but very few chances created.

Neither team could make the breakthrough and the half finished goalless.

After a few strong words at the break, Rhu started well and ten minutes into the second period they went ahead.

From a corner, the ball eventually found it's way to Daniel Johns in the box, and he made no mistake.

This gave Rhu a lift and it wasn't long before it was two.

After several passes, Scott Leishman timed his run perfectly to get on to Graeme McCallum's pass which put him through on goal, and he found the corner of the net.

Woodhall immediately put three up top and it paid off when they pulled a goal back.

But it was game over as Rhu quickly restored the two-goal advantage, when Adam McCulloch anticipated goalkeeper Martin Grindlay's long ball and calmly lobbed the advancing goalkeeper.

Woodhall's heads were down now and Rhu made it four with 15 minutes to go after some good play on the right, John McColl's early pass finding McCulloch, who got his second of the day.

Rhu team: Grindlay, Kemp, Johns, Willis, Jenkins, McColl, Leishman, Stilwell, Mulholland, McCulloch, McCallum.

Substitutes: Mitchell, McGillvary.
