BOYS and girls aged 12 and 13 from around the Helensburgh area have been invited to a free football training session at Hermitage Academy this Wednesday evening.

Helensburgh Football Club 2004s are hoping to expand their squad ahead of the new season and their coaches are inviting any children interested in football to come and join a training night for free.

It will take place on the back pitch at Hermitage this Wednesday, August 16, from 6pm till 7.30pm and focus on fun games, ball skills and a seven-a-side friendly at the end.

The session will be taken by qualified Scottish FA coaches with players of all abilities and experience encouraged to attend and take part.

Helensburgh FC 2004s volunteer coach Brian Welsh said: “We know a lot of kids in the area are back at school on Wednesday so everyone at the club agreed it would be nice to throw our doors open on Wednesday evening and welcome as many new faces as possible.

“The team developed really well last year with some great results in the DFDL however what is every bit as important is that they can have fun, enjoy their football, learn more about the game and build friendships along the way.

“We have a great team of qualified coaches committed to helping develop footballers of all abilities and the emphasis this Wednesday will be on fun and as many touches and fun ball drills as possible.

"We hope to welcome lots of new faces to the club on Wednesday night.”
