PLAYERS from Rhu-based Clyde Thistle FC enjoyed a tour and training session at the Rangers Training Centre last week.

Scott Edgar, who runs Rangers’ Club Development Centres, showed the local youngsters around the multi-million pound complex in Auchenhowie and they were able to see the facilities Graeme Murty’s first-team stars use on a daily basis, including the state of the art gym and indoor hall.

The Light Blues coach then put the Thistle kids through their paces on the centre’s full-size artificial pitch and gave them several drills to help improve and develop their skills.

Coach Richie Black said: “It was great for the players, coaches and several parents from Clyde Thistle to see where Rangers train. It’s an incredible place.

“The pitches outside are brilliant but I know our boys enjoyed walking around the indoor facilities as not many people get that opportunity.

“They absolutely loved it and a big thanks to Scott who took us on the tour and then put on a great training session.”

The trip to Auchenhowie came after Thistle announced that Ground Control have agreed to sponsor the club and will provide new training kit and tracksuits for players and coaches.

Thistle chairman Sean Stewart said: “Everyone at Clyde Thistle would like to thank Ground Control for their kind donation of £1,000.

“We as a club welcome this much needed sponsorship and the players and coaches look forward to wearing their logo on our new kit.

“Clyde Thistle strives to provide a vehicle for children in the local area to play football and we have doubled in size since the club was formed in 2015.

“We are currently looking to add more players to our 2006 squad, so if interested please contact me on 07879 496 405.”
