Muirend Ams 3 Rhu Ams 2
THIS was Rhu"s first competitive match since the end of November and it soon showed with a very poor first-half performance.
Rhu reversed the fixture and the game was played on an artificial pitch at Muirend.
The strong wind caused problems for both teams from the off, with Muirend happy to just clear their lines.
It proved to be the best tactic as Rhu struggled to get any rhythm to their game.
Chances were few, but midway through the half, following a goalmouth scramble, Muirend took the lead.
Rhu were out of sorts, with not much going right and Muirend added a second when their number seven headed home after slack marking at a corner kick.
Two goals down at the break, a half-time rollicking was dished out and despite the rain arriving and the conditions worsening, Rhu were now first to every ball.
They pulled a goal back on 60 minutes when Derek Cunningham ran onto a through ball from Paul Ross and hit the back of the net.
It was all Rhu now and 10 minutes later they pulled level when Davie Falconer latched onto a Davie Phillips pass to fire home.
