The Sons boss has already signed Mark McLaughlin but after losing Aaron Barry and releasing Martin McNifff, the Sons only have five recognised defenders.

With right back Paul McGinn set to miss the Livingston match in a fortnight through suspension, the Sons boss said: “I think we need a wee bit more defensive cover which we will try and do but at the moment we are up to our eyes in the financial side and there is not a lot of room for moving there.

“But also in terms of players — we have 25 players in the squad so we can’t add too many more but like any other team in the league, or any other team in the world, we are always looking for players that will improve us.”
