Rangers hosted Dumbarton at Ibrox 30 years ago this week in a Premier League match, Dumbarton were unfancied against a Gers team that included club legends Davie Cooper, Ally Dawson and current manager Ally McCoist.
However Dumbarton managed to battle out to a deserved 0-0 draw against the Glasgow giants.
The result did little for either sides seasons however, Dumbarton finished ninth that year and were relagated while Rangers finished a disappointing fourth behind Dundee United, Old Firm rivals Celtic and champions Aberdeen.
No doubt Ian Murray would settle for a similar scoreline this weekend.
