Burgh quickly settled into a free flowing passing game, however some good defending by the Oban lads kept the scores level. Chances came and went as Burgh kept the Oban keeper busy, he did well to smother shots from Petro and Sinclair as the pressure continued.

Petro thought he had opened the scoring when his shot finally beat the keeper but the ball struck the post and bounced clear.

Such was the pressure on the visitors that Cavanna in the Burgh goal was almost a spectator. Half-time arrived with the home side still unable to break the deadlock.

The second-half was a mirror image of the first with the home side laying siege to the Oban goal.

Both Conner and Addie rattled the crossbar from twenty yards with the ball bouncing to safety on both occasions.

With 10 minutes remaining the away side took an unlikely lead. On the break Oban got free down the left and their winger evaded Smith’s tackle and fired the ball across the goal where it struck full back Ross Gemmell, who had been running back to cover, and diverted the ball into the net.

The home team kept fighting for an equaliser but it wouldn’t come.

With manager Sam Gemmell taking a spell away from the sidelines due to ill health it was new coach Jason Petchey who had control of the team.

He said: “Everyone was disappointed after the game, they put everything into it and it was a huge improvement from last week. However we can’t seem to buy a goal in these last couple of games which puts pressure on ourselves. However the attitude is right and hopefully we can work on it over the next week and sort it out” Squad: Cavanna, Gemmell, MacDonald, Brodie, Paterson, Black, Sinclair, Conner, Petro, Birnie, Jones, Jeffreys, Smith, Mc Neil, Crossan, Addie The club are still looking for new players.
