The club held a consultation with fans and local residents at the start of the month on their plans to move the club from its current Castle road location to land at Young’s Farm at the west end of the town.

The plans include dedicated training facilities and while Murray admits assurances must be given on the financial security of the plans he is pleased that the club are trying to move forward.

He said: “Its obviously good news for the club if everything can be sorted out. The main issue would be that funding is in place to secure the club for the future but I think its great that the club are showing ambition to move forward.

“It would be great to have training in the one place at Dumbarton and it’s a step forward to becoming a full time club which is where the club wants to be but that’s obviously a while away.” As far as his squad is concerned Murray concedes that it will be a few weeks before he knows where he stands in terms of strengthening the squad in the January window, with a tight budget and several loan players due to go back to their clubs including goalkeeper Danny Rogers, who has been replaced by Jamie Ewings recently due to his international call up and the terms of his loan from Aberdeen preventing playing in the cup.

He said: “We’ve not thought too much about it. We could probably do with a striker but we need to see who is staying in terms of the loans and who goes back to their clubs. There will definitely be movement that’s a certainty at every club.”
