McLaughlin joined Dumbarton in January last year and played a key role as the club finished in a credible fifth position in the SPFL Championship.
The 39-year-old returns to Clyde for a second spell after spending five years at the club before leaving for Hamilton Accies in 2004.
The move comes after Ian Murray had strengthened his squad last week with the loan signing of Celtic defender Stuart Findlay.
