The junior members at Cardross Golf Club have enjoyed a busy July with the boys and girls both competing in their respective Junior Championships. The boys event came to an end on Sunday, July 7, with Cameron Black, defending champion, taking on Calum Mackenzie in the 36 hole final.

After a tense and closely contested morning round, which saw holes regularly changing hands, Cameron secured a two hole lead to take into the afternoon round.

A revitalised Calum came out in the afternoon and by the fifth hole had managed to get back on level terms, however, an error on the next let Cameron back into the match and he never looked back, running out victorious with a six and four result.

Friends, family and club officials then took in an excellent match as Lori MacDonald rook on Jillian Farrell in the Cardross Junior Girls Championship final.

The crowds were treated to a display of superb golf from the two young players, with the first nine holes contested closely with Lori edging steadily to victory at the 17th hole.
