Dougie Singleton and Donnie Nicolson won Helensburgh Golf Club's annual Craig Orr Open Greensome, sponsored by House of Darrach.

Their net score of 62.6 placed them just ahead of Alec Dunlop and Fraser McCathie on 62.8, whose better inward half nudged Scott Gardiner and Darren Traynor into third after they also scored 62.8.

The best gross prize went to Phil English and Jamie Francis with 75. Best gross were Alec Dunlop and Fraser McCathie who had 73 but with only one main prize, they received second prize only.

Nearest the pin at the 11th was David McCallum, now recovered from his recent four rounds in one day charity marathon, while the best visiting pair was Martin McAdam and Alec Jones, Airdrie Golf Club. Prizes were presented by Margo Irving on behalf of House of Darrach.

Ninety players took part in Saturday’s July round of the Breingan Medal. Results were:

Division 1: Wyllie Robertson [8] 67; Simon Barras [3] and Alan Birnie [6] both 68; Aidan Campbell [12], Douglas Willoughby [5] and Alan Scott [5] all scored nett 69.

Division 2: Richard G. Howard [17] achieved top nett Medal score with an impressive 64; Bob Berry[18] 69; George Cairns [16] 70.

Division 3: Ben Canham [25]; George Mundie [22] 77; Dougie Mitchell [25], Mick Bone [22] and Steve Roome [21] all scored nett78.

Wyllie Robertson, Richard G. Howard and Ben Canham are this month’s qualifiers for the Medal Final in September.

HGC’s McIntyre Seniors had their third consecutive victory last Thursday in their away match against Hilton Park, bringing the club to joint second position in the McIntyre League.
