Jillian Farrell secured the ladies' championship title at Cardross Golf Club with victory over Lori MacDonald at the 16th hole of the final.

Both girls represent Dumbarton and Argyll County and are about to compete for D&A in the Scottish County Finals, while Jillian had an excellent run of wins playing for Scotland in the recent Girls Home Internationals.

This was a close match with excellent golf played by both girls. Lori, playing off a handicap of five, took the first hole with a birdie but she lost a ball at the fourth and for much of the rest of the match the game was very evenly contested - but Jillian, playing off 1, got the upper hand as the second half progressed and won the match at the 16th.

The Bell Trophy was played for by the Lady Captain, Carolyn Craig, and the holder, Rae Strang. Both ladies played very good golf but Rae was just the steadier player, especially in the first half, and emerged victorious at the 15th.

Both matches were played in an excellent sporting spirit and very much enjoyed by the spectators who joined the players in the club house afterwards for drinks and nibbles.

A past Lady Captain, Noreen Harper, presented the Bell Trophy and the accompanying engraved champagne and wine glasses to the winner and runner-up.

The Lady Captain then moved to the other side of the presentation table and gave the beautiful Championship crystal bowl to Jillian, with Lori receiving her engraved wine glass.
