GOLF coach Simon Holmes paid a visit to his childhood golf club to host a golf clinic.
Simon spent his youth playing golf at Helensburgh Golf Club, where he is still a member, before heading off to America and Wake Forest University in the US
He was good enough to reach the last 16 of the Scottish Amateur Championship and holds a handicap of plus two.
But it is teaching which Simon most enjoys now and he returned to his childhood club recently to offer some tips in a golf clinic.
Despite living away from the area, he has retained his membership at the club and made a special effort to come up from London to visit and offer his expertise.
He has worked with stars such as Seve Ballesteros, Ernie Els and Nick Faldo and he regularly appears on Sky Sports where he analyses the golf swings of some of the best in the world.
The event was the perfect opportunity for members at Helensburgh to have their swing analysed in a master class
Ian Irving, from the golf club, said: “The opportunity to have a world-class golf coach work with members of a golf club is unique – similar to Ronaldo or Messi turning up and taking the coaching at Rhu Amateurs.
“His ability to quickly identify technical issues with the swing and advise on how to improve was very impressive.
“He dispensed advice in a professional and friendly manner. He is a really nice, unassuming guy and we are proud to call him one of our own.”
