MICHAEL McKECHNIE won Helensburgh Golf Club's latest Frostbite competition on February 12 with a total of 23 points.

With 42 players taking part, scoring was lower than usual despite the windy conditions, and Michael confirmed his prowess on the course by just edging out Rob Prideaux on the count-back.

There was no change at the top of the leader-board with Craig MacPhee and David Kennedy both on an unchanged best six scores of 143 points.

Craig is in first place by dint of having the highest score for the last six games played.

Craig and David didn’t score too well in the blustery conditions, but third-placed Ray Smith returned a respectable 20 points.

If, as looks likely, it’s a two horse race between Craig and David for the overall title, then they will have to maintain their form and keep scoring well to keep their last six scores as high as possible as it looks like this formula may come into play to separate first and second places.

No hole-in-one news this week, so the pot now goes up past the £150 mark. David Tolhurst won the scorecard raffle to collect a dozen Titleist balls.

Saturday’s Pro-shop 11 Hole Stableford was won by Brian Penman returning an amazing 33 points, averaging birdies at every hole.

To add to his prize money, Brian also shared 15 Titleist balls with Calum Kennedy, both scoring twos. David Kennedy came second with 28 points and in joint third were Carl Smith and Filippo Madonia both scoring 27points.
