CRAIG SCOTT, Colin Speirs, Steve Scott and Tom Makeham returned a net score of 54.6 to win the RNLI Scramble charity tournament at Helensburgh Golf Club.

Eighty-four players took part in teams of four, raising £168 for the lifeboat charity.

Two teams took second place, both scoring 55.5. They were Alistair McKenzie, Billy Trail, Gordon Sharp and Mick Taheny, and Darren and Harry Pearce, John Ford and Mark Tynan.

Bob Berry won the first senior stableford competition of the new season on March 28, scoring 27 points over 11 holes, followed by Alan Bell on 22.

Alistair McKenzie and Alan Scott also returned 22 points but Alan took second place on a better inward half, with Alistair following in third. Alan had the consolation of winning the ‘nearest the pin’ prize at the 11th.

As well as winning overall, Bob Berry also took the longest drive prize at the eighth hole and completed his day with the card raffle prize in the clubhouse, winning a dozen Callaway balls and a Callaway glove.

Twenty-eight pairs took part in the Greensome Stableford on March 24. Father and son, Darren and Harry Pearce took the honours with 40 points on a countback ahead of Ewen Cameron/George Cairns and Don Griffin/Calum Kennedy.
