Young sports stars shining

Helensburgh Lions Club were presenting their Youth Awards for 2005 - 2006 and 2006 - 2007.

Last year's winner was golfer Simon Barras, who completed a hugely successful season culminating in winning both the junior and senior titles at Helensburgh Golf Club.

The 2006-2007 recipient, is wheelchair tennis player Gordon Reid, who has received international recognition for his performances at home and abroad.

President of the Lions, Stuart Wrighthouse congratulated both young men and wished them every success in their future careers.

He expressed his delight at being able to recognise

commitment, dedication and success.

First awarded in 1995, The Youth Award is given to a young person who has demonstrated significant achievement. Previous winners have been active in sport, music and community service.
