AN annual charity golf tournament brought out the best in talent from the area and raised thousands of pounds at the same time.
The Rotary Club of Helensburgh Garelochside Golf Tournament was held last Thursday and an excellent turnout helped to raise £3,300.
This will be distributed to charities including the Maggies Cancer Care Centre as well as Rotary International Disaster Aid in China and Burma.
The tournament was held at Helensburgh Golf Club and organised by Helensburgh Garelochside Rotary Club with the support of HM Naval Base Clyde.
Weather conditions were dry and warm while the course was in very good condition and it proved to be an enjoyable and successful day for all participants.
The format was a team Stableford with the best two scores on any hole counting. The HMS Neptune Trophy for the winning team, pictured (above), was presented to the Clarke Chapman Facilities Management Team made up of Stewart Coutts, Tom Foster, Alan Latham and Alan Reynolds.
In second place were Dobson"s Team of Ken Dobson, John Christie, Ted Horan and Bobby Latham.
Third placed were Scott-Moncrieff Wealth Management Team of Andrew Birt, Ian Irving, Chris Lawler and John Ullinger.
Prizes for nearest the pin went to: Malky McPhee (3rd), Ian Irving (9th), David McGregor (11th) and Craig Thompson (16th).
In the longest drive competition, Gus Davidson prevailed for the gents and Ann Trail for the Ladies.
The Alex MacFarlane Trophy for Best Individual Score, with 39 points, was won by David MCGregor playing off one.
