CARDROSS Golf Club Ladies held their Championship Finals Day on Saturday August 30. The Ladies Championship was keenly contested between Lorraine Campbell and Jillian Farrell, resulting in a win for Lorraine by 2/1. Jillian played extremely well against the reigning champion and was in the ascendancy for a good part of the match until Lorraine’s experience shone through.
Jillian was able to put her disappointment behind her the next day when she won the County Junior Girls Championship, played at Clydebank and District Golf Club. Cardross Juniors featured well, with Lori McDonald taking the runner up spot.
The Bronze Championship was between Diana Macintosh and Lynne McDonald. This was also a very competitive game, with Lynne fighting back from three down to square the match on the 18th green. Lynne was very unfortunate when her second shot at the 19th found a bunker and Diana managed to secure the win.
