In spite of the weather, Andy Bennett [16] was the clear winner with a score of 41 points, a margin of seven ahead of David Hogg [14] with 34 points and in third place Eddie Sommerville [21] with 33 points.

Obviously, newly retired Andy Bennet’s frequent visits to the club’s new driving range are paying off.

Sunday saw the third week of the Winter League played in wet and windy conditions, 100 determined souls braved a wet and blustery day with the formidable duo of former individual Club Champions Peter Haggerty [0] and Alan Scott [5] producing an impressive 45 points to take this week’s honours.

Peter and Alan narrowly missed victory scoring 42 points in the first two weeks but this week achieved success. Congratulations to both players, in second place Jim McKenzie [16] and Stuart Milne [6] continued a noteworthy competition performance with 42 points, having been winners 2 weeks ago. Tom Foster [25] and Alan Walker [16] achieved third place with a very respectable 39 points.

In the team scores, Tom Griffith’s men again had the winning score of 187 points with Tom Foster’s team 178 points and in third place Dave Tolhurst’s team with 177 points.

After three weeks play, running totals show Tom Griffith team still in the lead with 383, Don Griffin’s team 368 and Dave Tolhurst’s team 366.

With little difference in the leading teams scores so far, there is still all to play for.

In the Eclectic element of the competition, Jim McKenzie and Stuart Milne lead with 54 points followed by Peter Haggerty / Alan Scott 51 points and Dougie Singleton/ John Gallagher 50 points.

Much credit and thanks is owed to Robert Bacon and his green keeping staff for all their hard work which, in spite of the weather, has kept the course in magnificent condition with greens running true if a little slower.
