Westerlands 0 Rosneath 7

ROSNEATH went into this game on the back of a wonderful pre-season and were hoping to continue this form into the new season.

Westerlands are a new team to the league after merging with Glasgow Grads from last season who Rosneath beat twice in division one last term.

the game started with Rosneath playing their tried and tested 4-5-1 system and it worked a treat when last year’s top goalscorer continued where he left off by beating the keeper and defender to the ball and chipped home from eight yards.

Straight from kick-off Rosneath forced a corner and when Johanson whipped in the cross Beaton was at the back post to nod home for 2-0.

The third came soon after when once again Dillon lobbed the keeper after breaking the off-side trap.

Only 10 minutes into the new season and this game was over. A few chances came and went with Rosneath in full control but with a few players trying too hard to get on the scoresheet.

A bit more composure was needed in front of goal and within two minutes of the re-start Dillon pounced again to grab his hat-trick from close range to make it 4-0.

Again from the restart the away side pressured the home defence into a mistake and who else would it be on the score sheet but Dillon.

Westerlands did create a few half chance but everything was easily dealt with by Lubo and his defence.

With half an hour to go Rosneath scored again but this time it was Kevin McKell who calmly brought the ball down swivelled at the edge of the box and struck a left-foot shot into the top corner for goal of the day.

Dillon and McKell made way for Gray and Burch just before Johanson got himself on the score sheet with a shot just inside the box aided by a slight deflection.

A great start to the season for Rosneath who completely dominated this game from start to finish.
