FIRST XV Lomond and Helensburgh 31-41 Kelvinside Academy In the last game of the season, the first XV travelled to the West End of Glasgow to play Kelvinside Academy at Balgray playing fields.

Lomond and Helensburgh kicked off and immediately Kelvinside started as they meant to go on by throwing the ball wide.

Lomond and Helensburgh were equal to this early attacking play with a good defensive structure.

With both sides trying to establish their game plan it was Kelvinside who crossed the line first to make the score 5-0.

Lomond and Helensburgh bounced back immediately, and after some good phases of attacking rugby, Andrew Ram scored and converted to give Lomond and Helensburgh the lead.

The game at this point became messy, with lots of mistakes from both teams.

Poor defensive play from Lomond and Helensburgh allowed Kelvinside to score two more unconverted tries before Lomond and Helensburgh replied with a brace of their own through Michael Kinsman and Cavan Boothby, to give the Burgh side a 21-17.

Lomond and Helensburgh started the second half the way they finished the first, with a well worked try from Fraser Alcorn in the corner.

However, lack of match practice since Christmas became evident as Kelvinside exploited the Lomond and Helensburgh fitness, running in a few tries beyond a loose Lomond and Helensburgh defence.

In the last play of the game, Anthony Edijke scored a well taken solo try to end the 201314 season on a high note.

The final score of 41-31 highlighted the massive improvement of the team throughout the season as Kelvinside had won the reverse fixture convincingly earlier in the season.

UNDER-16s Kelvinside Academy 26-12 Lomond and Helensburgh Despite a wet and muddy morning, the under-16’s travelled through to Balgray playing fields for their last game of the season against a tough Kelvinside Academy team in what turned out to be an excellent contest with both teams bringing an intense game.

Lomond and Helensburgh enjoyed good possession but lost a try in the corner after their defence was stretched.

However, Josh Green scored an excellent try, converted by Fraser Fulton, to go into the lead. Kelvinside fought back again, taking advantage of a lucky bounce of the ball to score under the posts for a 12-7 half time lead.

The lack of game time proved decisive in the second half though as Kelvinside scored another breakaway try, before Josh Green grabbed his second try of the game.

A late try sealed a 26-12 victory for Kelvinside but overall this was a strong performance to wrap up a good season.

FIRST YEAR Lomond and Helensburgh 18-11 Kelvinside Academy The final game of the season saw Lomond and Helensburgh first years play a well organised Kelvinside Academy team at Ardencaple.

With two evenly matched teams it was always going to be a close game. Tries from Angus Guy, Adam Scott (two) and Nick Fish saw the team edge home 18–11.

A fitting end to a good season.

TRANSITUS Lomond School 5-3 Belmont House Primary The final game of the season saw Transitus play Belmont.

The two teams proved to be evenly matched with Belmont putting the ball over the line first.

However, excellent interlinking play between Oscar Thomas and Travis Colquhoun brought back the Lomond squad to an even score.

Tries from Dylan McTaggart, Travis Colquhoun, Tabish Hicks and Oscar Thomas put the team ahead to win by one try.

A good effort for the final match in the season.
