Gala goes swimmingly for Burgh youngsters

HELENSBURGH Amateur Swimming Club recently held their second and third age group gala at the Playdrome in Clydebank.
This was a great opportunity for family and friends to see all the hard work the swimmers have been putting in at their training. The gala started off with the breaststroke and the results were as follows:
Girls 7& under 25m - 1st Katie Simpson, 2nd Lois Fish. Girls 8-9yrs 50m- 1st Olivia Dougan, 2nd Charlotte Caskie, 3rd Emma Scott, 4th Freya Beattie, 5th Georgina Jennings-Maun. Boys 8-9yrs 50m- 1st Mark Findlay, 2nd Joe Bull, 3rd Nick Fish, 4th Luke Walsh. Girls 10-11yrs 100m- 1st Isobel Thwaites, 2nd Christy Morrison, 3rd Amy McNeil, 4th Gail Craig, 5th Katie Gardner, 6th Alex MacFarlane, 7th Hannah Hassan. Boys 10-11yrs 100m- 1st Ben Addlington, 2nd Nathan Shahid, 3rd Adam Finlay. Girls 12-13yrs 100m- 1st Victoria Cox, 2nd Charlotte Jennings-Maun, 3rd Anna Beattie. Boys 12-13yrs 100m- 1st Duncan Anderson, 2nd Matthew Thwaites, 3rd Daniel Shahid, 4th Michael Walsh, 5th Jon Law, 6th John MacFarlane. Boys 14-15yrs 100m- 1st Duncan Redstone. Girls 16yrs 100m- Katherine Stanley Whyte. Boys 16yrs 100m- Craig Morrison.
It was then on to the freestyle and the results for that were as follows:

Girls 8-9yrs 50m- 1st Olivia Dougan, 2nd Emma Scott, 3rd Charlotte Caskie, 4th Georgina Jennings-Maun, 5th Freya Beattie. Boys 8-9yrs 50m- 1st Nick Fish, 2nd Joe Bull, 3rd Luke Walsh, 4th Mark Finlay. Girls 10-11yrs 100m- 1st Amy McNeil, 2nd Isobel Thwaites, 3rd Christy Morrison, 4th Gail Craig, 5th Katie Gardner, 6th Alex MacFarlane. Boys 10-11yrs 100m- 1st Ben Addlington, 2nd Nathan Shahid, 3rd Adam Finlay. Girls 12-13yrs 100m- 1st Victoria Cox, 2nd Anna Beattie, 3rd Charlotte Jennings Maun. Boys 12-13yrs 100m- 1st Duncan Anderson, 2nd Michael Walsh, 3rd Daniel Shahid, 4th Jon Law, 5th Matthew Thwaites, 6th John MacFarlane. Boys 14-15yrs 100m- 1st Duncan Redstone. Girls 16yrs 100m- 1st Katherine Stanley-Whyte. Boys 16yrs 100m- 1st Craig Morrison.
There were 36 new personal best times, 17 new times and one disqualification on the day.
The winners of the Nigel Atkinson trophy were also announced on the day of the gala.
This award is presented to a swimmer who has shown outstanding commitment and determination in training. The second age group trophy winner was Emma Scott and the third age group winner was Olivia Dougan.
The club would also like to thank all the family and friends who travelled to Clydebank to support the swimmers.
