CHAMPION: Olly with Tim Holden, from Autotechnique, and his Lotus
KENWAY Motor School boss Olly Ross had a successful start to his title defence of the Scottish Motor Racing Club's Classic Sports and Saloon Car Championship.
The Helensburgh-based racer won with two emphatic drives and a podium position on Sunday April 18.
The racing series is open to any car built before 1980 and all must look original but most have full race engines and suspension.
The championship can be won by a vehicle in any of the four classes on a points system, Olly's being the best supported up to two-litre class, with him driving his 1600 cc 1971 Lotus Europa.
Sunday's two races had a full grid of 32 cars and the weather was atrocious which suited Olly as the more powerful Porsches, Morgans and Capris had difficulty getting their power down in these conditions.
Olly has won 18 Scottish motor racing titles in a lifetime in the sport and is now the fastest old age pensioner in Scotland, with over 200 wins.
He is sponsored by Hart Insurance, Clydebank, Bruno's Hairdressers, Dumbarton, Helensburgh Tyres and his Lotus is prepared and maintained by Tim and his experts at Autotechnique Helensburgh with the help of Stuart Massie.
