CARRICK sponsored Scot Clare Queen has her eye set firmly on the prize.

The 25-year-old has been putting in plenty of practice with new caddie Shane Codd ahead of the Ladies Scottish Open which tees off today.

Queen, ranked 39th in last year"s order of merit, is keen to continue her ascent since joining the tour in 2006.

She said: 'I feel like I have really settled in well and am now trying to move my game forward.

'I am absolutely loving being part of the tour. I feel my game is in good shape and there is no reason why I can"t be up there challenging.

'Of the rest, Sophie Gustafson is hard to ignore, infact she is the standout in the field, but there is plenty of others who will be in contention.'

The Glasgow girl is one of four Scots on the European Tour, opting to turn pro after completing a BA in Business Studies at Strathclyde University.

And she is delighted to return to the Loch Lomond shores after the success of the fixture last year.

Clare added: 'Last year was really good so it is really nice to have it back again.

'I particularly enjoy it as, with my links to the Carrick, it feels like I am playing at home.

'I"ll have plenty of friends and family there too which makes it a bit more special than touring Europe.'
