A CHAMPION shot putter is set to throw his weight into launching the Burgh"s first ever Junior Highland Games.
Muscleman Neil Elliott, a former Hermitage Academy pupil, has delighted his hometown crowd over the years with his show of strength.
And now the 37-year-old wants to tour the local schools and find a future caber tossing champ.
Elliott, who trains at the Marinecraft Gym in nearby Dumbarton, said: 'The plan is to visit as many schools across the area as I can on Friday afternoons and teach them about Highland Games.
'Then we would invite them to a coaching weekend and from there pick the best two boys and two girls from each school."
Highland Games disciplines include: stone throwing, shot putt, the hammer, sleuth, weights for height and distance and the ever-popular caber tossing.
