G84 UNDER-13 team were away to Edinburgh recently for the group stages of the Scottish Club Cup competition, organised by Netball Scotland.
This was the players' first competitive match playing as a team and they acquitted themselves extremely well.
They faced difficult opposition from a very tall and experienced Edinburgh side but did not let this get them down and fought hard throughout the match, tying two of the quarters but eventually losing 29-13.
Praise must go to the shooters Kira Jones, Hannah Denholm and Kirsten Bruce for their movement in and around the shooting circle and to Lucy Mills and Kara Chivers for excellent play in the mid-court.
The team was captained by Kelsey Pearson who was also voted as player of the match, along with Rebecca Edgar, for their impressive displays of defensive play. Kelsey and Rebecca worked tirelessly as individuals and as a defensive unit throughout the match and denied Edinburgh many attempts at goal.
G84 U13 and U15s both have their next home fixtures against Dumfries later in the month.
G84 are always on the lookout for new players and if you are interested in joining the club as a player, coach or volunteer, training takes place on Tuesday evenings at the new Lomond Sports Hall.
The times are 5pm to 6pm for U11 and U13, and 6pm to 7.30pm for U15 and U17.
